NORFOLK The owner of the famous "lion dog" pleaded guilty Friday to maintaining a nuisance animal and was ordered to keep Charles the Monarch on a leash. In exchange for Daniel Painter's plea to the misdemeanor, Deputy City Attorney Cynthia Hall dropped charges of failing to pay a dog license tax and failure to vaccinate for rabies.
PORTSMOUTH The city has yet to come up with a plan for dealing with its feral cat population. And unless it does so soon, cats in Portsmouth are going to start dying as it gets colder, one animal welfare expert warned.
