CHESAPEAKE - More than 190 residents were subpoenaed to court Wednesday for failing to return jury duty questionnaires delivered to their homes. They packed a large courtroom, awaiting a lecture by a judge. NORFOLK - A man accused of stealing property from the pawn shop he ran pleaded guilty to 10 misdemeanor counts of petit larceny Tuesday.Ernest L. Andrews, 39, must pay fines totaling $2,500 and must pay several victims a total of $5,770 in restitution under the terms of his plea agreement. His plea agreement calls for Andrews to be sentenced to 10 years in prison, but that time will be suspended if Andrews makes the payments before his sentencing date in June. VIRGINIA BEACH - Police fanned out in neighborhoods around the Oceana Naval Air Station after a man tried to abduct a 4-year-old girl Saturday morning. Rene Ball, a police spokeswoman, said the situation began to unfold at 11:15 a.m. She said the girl was playing in a park behind her home in the 900 block of Poughkeepsie Court.
