Barnyard animals attacked at Va. farm park

HERNDON Fairfax County police say four barnyard animals were attacked overnight at a Herndon area farm park. Police say farm staff at Kidwell Barn at Frying Pan Farm Park discovered Sunday morning that two goats, a calf and a chicken had been cut by an unknown object, but the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. The attack would have happened sometime after 5 p.m. Saturday.

FARMVILLE A violent felon who was accidently freed from a regional jail in Farmville is the focus of a manhunt. The Progress-Index (http://bit.ly/LmZA01) of Petersburg reports that 31-year-old Carter Sherrod Tillery was serving a 30-year federal sentence in a high-security federal prison in West Virginia for robbing a Petersburg merchant with a sawed-off shotgun in 2009.

Sex assault in 2005 yields 5 years in prison

NORFOLK A former Florida police officer will serve five years in prison for a sexual assault that occurred in September 2005 while he was in the Navy. Steven Binsse, 28, is one of four men charged in connection with the assault of a woman at the Navy Lodge on Hampton Boulevard. They were arrested after film of the assault was turned over to police.
