Nansemond-Suffolk wins state golf title

GOLF VISAA state tournaments Keith Cooper fired a 2-over-par 74, and teammate Stuart Brazil carded a 75 to lead Nansemond-Suffolk to its first Virginia Independent Schools Division II state golf title Monday at Sleepy Hole Golf course in Suffolk. Thomas Meyers shot a 79 for the Saints' other qualifying score.

Greenbrier, Cape Henry set to meet again

BASEBALL VISAA Div. II quarterfinals Greenbrier Christian 2, Atlantic Shores 1 Nick Jesse drove in the winning RBI on a single, scoring Bryce Myers from third base, to help edge the Seahawks and send the Gators to the semifinals on Thursday. Myers recorded an RBI and Robbie Lathrop had two hits for Greenbrier Christian (26-7), which will play Cape Henry today.

Spring Sports Buzz VI: Baseball, Softball, Soccer Track

BASEBALL Titans won first title since 1995   Lake Taylor coach Steve Gray could feel success coming at the end of last season.   The Titans, who won their first Eastern District title since 1995 this season, were a young team leading eventual-champion Churchland 2-0 in the seventh when things fell apart during an error-filled inning.

Monday's roundup | Salem rallies in baseball

BASEBALL Salem 3, Princess Anne 2 Brandon Trujillo drove in Connor Staskey on an RBI single in the sixth and the SunDevils (15-5, 12-4 Beach) clipped the Cavaliers on Monday. After Princess Anne took a 2-0 lead, Salem tied it in the third on Devonte Bivins' RBI double. Bivins pitched the first five innings and struck out seven. Staskey (2-2) threw the last two innings.
