Jose P. Flores III
Flores, 51, is running for City Council in Virginia Beach (Kempsville)

Opponents: Harry E. Diezel, Andrew R. Jackson
Years in city: 16
Education: Bachelor's degree in biblical studies, Norfolk Bible College and Seminary; management training and communication courses; attended classes at Howard University, Tidewater Bible College
Occupation: I am the founding and senior pastor of the Perfecting Saints Worship Center and founder of the Newtown Cultural Life Center.
Family: Daughter, 3; custody of two nephews, 16 and 18
Civic involvement: Established the Newtown Cultural Life Center to provide a safe, semi-recreational / arts learning environment for youth of the Newtown Baker Corridor. Supported better police/community relations through forums.
I am the best candidate in the race because my service record to the community, addressing the most critical problems of Virginia Beach, far surpasses that of the incumbent or the challenger. In addition to my raw leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide spectrum of people, and my experience in business as a radio broadcast station operator and record company owner, I feel I have the skills, vision, intellect and passion necessary to lead Virginia Beach into a new decade of greatness.
I support doing the important research necessary to determine the real need and the likelihood of profitability.
Money spent on studies and consultants, raises and unnecessary expenditures.
There should have been a referendum on whether any public money should be spent on the Dome site.
Safety, workforce development and transportation.
