Editor's note: Get ready for a new PilotOnline.com

Posted to: About Us

PilotOnline.com

PilotOnline.com and HamptonRoads.com will have a brand new look when you log on Thursday.

We’re making some changes to the design of both Web sites with the intention of providing a simpler and more valuable experience for our users.

These changes will focus on PilotOnline.com’s commitment to providing breaking news and updated local information throughout the day and HamptonRoad.com’s promise to entertain readers, help them find local information and give them a greater voice in the community.

Much has changed in recent years in terms of technology. But one thing that has remained the same is our passion for providing more information, in all of its forms, than any other Web site serving Hampton Roads. No one comes close to providing our depth and range of content.

The acid test for our new designs will always be whether they make it easier for users to find what they are looking for. As a result, the sites you see Thursday will reflect our study of user behavior at PilotOnline.com and HamptonRoads.com, as well as our conversations with thousands of our 600,000 unique, monthly visitors.

We believe the result will greatly enhance the user experience at our Web sites, and we look forward to your comments. That valuable feedback will be the basis of continuous improvements throughout the coming months.

WOO-HOO!!

Look forward to the changes!

New Look

I hope that the new look will include letters to the editor, you are one of the few online newspapers that do not provide letters to the editor online.

Changes to Pilotonline

I really enjoy the Pilotonline - my grandson is in the Navy stationed in Norfolk. I read the Pilot every day. The layout is so good - much, much better than my local paper, The Tennessean - I am always bragging about how much better the Pilot is so I hope the change won't be too drastic. I read the military news of course but since we visit there often, I also read the local section and I have searched for apartments for my grandson and your information on that site is very good and most helpful.

Don't change it too much...

I kind of like it the way it is, so don't go drastic with the changes.

New changes to Pilotonline.com

Hopefully it won't be a drastic change. I pretty much like it the way it is. Just make it easy to access my portfolio from the home page. Also, listen to the readers opinions when the changes occur!

New web site

I enjoy the web site when I am out of town and away from the daily paper. I am sure your improvements will be good. If not, I am sure that you will listen to the reader responses.

New Features

I really hope they're going to let us view Pilot Online through Avantgo. I'd love to take a copy of the most currently articles on my PDA. Other wise, everything else appears to be awesome.

CHANGES

Can't wait until Thursday’s new outlook arrives, but I have to wait.
Thank you and good luck, to the paper and its staff.

Keep It Simple Stupid

Ever wonder why GOOGLE is so easy? Simple page. No fluff.

New Web Page?

Agree with the first comment by Chris H. PLEASE don't mimic your competitor across the river. That layout is virtually unusable. And a little ommph on your Opinion page would be nice.

Two things: Speed and usability

I log on from a variety of computers throughout the day, all with varying types of connections and speeds. On a couple of them the site is virtually unusable due to slow loading. Please take that into consideraton.
Also, the layout and usability of the site is actually pretty good right now, please don't go with something like you competitor on the other side of the water has. It's impossible to scan and comes across as confusing at best.

new look

It looks like it will be a terrific change. Good luck to you all.

On no!!

This site is one of the most attractive and easy to use sites on the internet. Sometimes change is not a good thing. I wish you guys would change your minds and leave this web site the way it is.
