| Nearly 200 horses, including the foal at left, journeyed across the water between Assateague Island and Chincoteague during the 82nd annual Chincoteague Pony Swim on Wednesday. The foal was injured slightly when it came ashore, and members of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Co. cared for it.

Have you ever witnessed what happens to these beautiful creatures when there are too many for the natural habitat to facilitate...do a little research before you comment..
Its called severe inbreeding..followed by death by starvation in the winter..diseases beyond what you picture as a beautiful...dead horses on the beach is not something a tourist is going to see its the locals that clean up the mess..

Taking ponys out of their habit is not cruel?
The media is so into Micheal Vick and his alleged dog fighting, but maybe we should also look at this pony roundup. These animals have been in their natural habitat all of their lives and are round up and sold to the highest bidder. this seems sad when you look at the pictures of these animals leaving the only homes they know. i think PETA should be their also expressing their opinion. If you have been to chingoteague you will see the beautiful environment these animals are being forced from.
