Who Knew

Last year I had to have a kidney removed.  In doing so, I lost 42 pounds and gained back 55 pounds.  Yeah, I know, not too smart.

Well, I noticed this bulge on one side of my stomach near the end of 2011.  This year it is more prominent.

Reading "Belly Bottom," I think I might know why.  Who knew that such a thing could happen?!

Did you know?

One Hot Mess

In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, well, I finally followed through with my threat of going back-to-school.  I’m a whole month in now.  Even with my agoraphobia I haven’t missed a class yet.  However, I have taking a lot of Xanax, just to make it through.

So far I have been rather hyped about school, in a positive way of course.  Even though I’m failing Spanish I. I look at my high school transcript, I graduated in 1983 and I see where I took Spanish in 10th grade (that’s 1981 for those of you not quick enough with the math and yes, I’m taking that too.)  Well, I aced it then. Not sure how.  Wish I knew because I could really use the advice and the support now.

But all of that is not what this blog post is about.  It’s about the recent news coverage of abortion.  Even though I haven’t had time to read anything but a textbook, my husband has energetically and rather vocally kept me informed of some of the ridiculous articles floating around out there.

First, let me tell you that I’m all for abortion.  If you are not a female then you shouldn’t have a say.  A woman should not be forced to have a child that she doesn’t want.  Besides, aren’t there enough unwanted children in the foster care system?  And aren’t there enough children, with special health care needs, also in that same foster system.  And isn’t there enough child abuse our there to back up the fact that some people just shouldn’t have children.

The new measures about the ultrasound and the photo and the signature cannot honestly be taking seriously.  Why?  Let me say it again, “I T  I S  N O  O N E ‘ S  B U S I N E S S”, but the female involved.  And if you believe differently, then prove it.  Go out into your city, your state, anywhere in the United States and adopt a child that is in permanent foster care.  Show us that you truly believe that abortion is wrong, by adopting.

So, here is your assignment for the weekend.  If you do not believe in abortion, come Monday, I expect to hear that you have begun the adoption process of a child in foster care.

However, if you do not do that, then just shut your mouth!

On A More Personal Note

I have been surprised, recently, at how many adults have gone back-to-school.  Especially from people over 40.

I'm one of those people.

I wanted to make sure that I actually enrolled and started showing up for class before I said anything to you about it.  Well, we're in week three (I know, still a baby.)  And I've already had two quizzes, which I passed, but barely.

I'm disappointed that at my age, we have to start from scratch.  Remember, those "required" courses that have nothing to do with anything.

I enjoy, so far, going to class, even though I'm the oldest in the room (including all my professors but one.)  So far, the kids (students) have been really nice to this "old lady."

I just hope and pray that I stick it out.

I tend to have problems scheduling homework and study time, with family life and work.  There's just not enough time in the day.  How do people do it?

Then again, like last night, I spent almost four hours trying to complete, "Bubble Birds" on my Nook.  Help?!

Too Many Things To Complain About Today

So, many things to complain about today.  You choose the one that you are most passionate about.

I'm not a huge fan of Facebook.  Especially if you are pouring your heart and soul out and giving up on personal information and photos that no one else needs to see unless they are your absolute bestest best friend.  But what this kid was pretty ingenious.  He posted photos of his father's abuse was what I consider the best way to catch a criminal.  Too bad that option wasn't around when I was a kid.

Now, I'm the first one to say that no one should smoke, especially kids.  We also need stronger penalties in place for those that are underage and decide that it's cool to smoke.  I even think we should punish their parents.  When I saw the caption, "Photographer captures disturbing images of children puffing on cigarettes," my first thought was, "Could he be charged with child pornography?"  After all, nowadays, depending upon where you are at, you can get in trouble for taking pictures of children, even if it's accidental and even if they are not what you are really trying to photograph.  There's another messed up law there.

But that's not what this was about.  These were staged photographs.  Unfortunately, I don't think that they are going to send the correct message.  I'm afraid that most will think that they are just cute pictures and not an awakening to the ever growing problem of underage children and smoking.

Now, we all know how I feel about animal abuse.  Hunting a giraffe should be an automatic, gun to the head for the hunter.  And all those in the photographed should be shot several times, in various parts of their bodies, and left to die.  Yes, I hate (actually it's more than hate) those that hurt animals in any way, shape or form.  Oh, and the guy that accepted the hunting fee, well he should be hunted down himself, for no fee.  Or for a fee where the money goes to animal causes.

Oh Lord, I just came up with a great idea.  All of these animal and child abusers should be put on an enclosed reservation somewhere and all those that love to murder and hurt people, could pay a fee (the money goes to charity) and hunt these suckers down.  You know what they say about payback?

See, I told you; sometimes you don't really want to know what I think.

What's your thoughts?

This Would Be Me But Worse

When I read about a mother that spent 25 years as a prime suspect in the murder of her son, who was 6 at the time, I thought, "That would be me.  But worse."

After find her son, 6, dead, she eventually lost her family, including her other son and husband and friends because everyone thought that she did it.  Finally, after 25 years some experts determined that mom was innocent.  That it was, unfortunately, dogs that killed the boy.

Now, here is why I say that would be my luck but worse.  For one, I've always had a fear of being accused of something that I didn't do and being thrown in jail for it.  I actually came close not too long ago (but that's a story for another day.)

From what I could tell, the mother was never formally charged and never served any time, which makes her lucky, because other people aren't so lucky.  I would be one of them.

If that had been me, not only would I have lost my family and friends and have my reputation tarnished but I would have been in jail for those 25 years.  And getting out with nowhere to go because no one would have anything to do with me.

I'm glad that the mother is finally cleared.  I hope that her other son, who is now 33, will pick up a phone and call her.  I hope that they can get back together.  I know that it will take time but I say that it's never too late.  Never too late for some families.  In the case of me and my mother and my sister, well, we passed too late a few decades ago.

So, what's your biggest fear?

Dog Abuse

I cried and threw up today after reading an article.  I read it by accident, as it is something that I know to stay away from.

But if you're interested in the explicit version, you can go to The Daily Mail and check out the article and video on the 1,500 dogs that were on the back of a truck, in cages so small that they couldn't stand or move.  It was the grosses thing that I have seen in years and I couldn't look at all the photos or even bring myself to view the video.

What I would love to see done to those people responsible I cannot write here.  If I did write it, it would be very explicit.  It would be against the law, but shouldn't be.  And it might make you question the type of person I am, even though, in this circumstance, I really wouldn't care.

I have no idea why people feel that dogs are some type of commodity that they can just do whatever the h that they want with.

I really do believe that we need to go back to the Old Testament way of things.  Remember, an eye for an eye.  I think that would cut down on crime in general.  So, you bring that back and you've got my vote.

Kim Kardashian: She Can't Blame Editing No More

I watch every Kardashian television show that I come across.

I love watching the antics of what I like to call, the first family.

After all, there is no other family that is as famous as they are.  All of them.  Not just one or two.  All of them.

Well, with everything that has been in the news online and off, I can't help but feel that Kim Kardashian is a spoiled, little brat.  Spoiled is actually a mild word for what I want to say.

She's just mean to those around her.

She's wants what she wants, when she wants it and how she wants it.

Now, that wouldn't be such a bad thing, if you didn't feel as if you were entitled.

I first started out thinking that Kim was a shy girl, that didn't start any trouble.  Now I'm starting to think that she needs a serious reality check.  I think it's time that Kim realizes that everything that happens in the world isn't about her, or for her.

I can tell you that it will take a lot before I respect Kim Kardashian again.  A very long time.

What's your thoughts on Kim or her famous family?

If You Give Me A Search Engine...

I'm kind of like that book, "If you give a mouse a cookie."

Watching the football game, they showed pictures of Alcatraz.  Which started a debate in my household over what rumors were real and which were false.  So, I did what I always do and I took to Google.  This led me to Wikipedia.  Which led me to...

Then I had to check out the United States Penitentiary (which took Alcatraz's place.)  And since they were on permanent lockdown for 23 years because they had the worse, of the worse, of the worse.  This led me to...

Charles Manson.  After all they said that Alcatraz was set up for the worse of the worse.  (Did they ever find evidence to truly convict him?)  Anyway.  Though, he was never at either.  Well... that led me to...

Dennis Wilson (for no other reason than curiosity.)

Leslie Van Houten (because I had read something about her a few years back that caught my eye, only I don't remember what.)

And finally to Patricia Krenwinkel.

Even though Krenwinkel is now 64 years old, she will always, in people's minds, look like her 1969 arrest picture.  So, imagine my surprise when I viewed "Prison Pups for the Disabled" and saw a 60+ year old, looking a lot like one of my aunts, training pups for the disabled.

Maybe something good does always come out of something bad.  What do you think?

Clark Gable's Grandson

I never knew that Clark Gable had a grandson.  Okay, I guess somewhere in the very back depths of my brain I knew it but I just never thought about it.

Well, one thing I can say for Clark Gable's grandson is, he is very attractive.  Not too smart.  But very handsome.
