CHESAPEAKE
A 50-year-old Bronx woman pleaded guilty Friday to her role in a prostitution ring that operated out of a Chesapeake trailer park.
Francisca Arias-De Rey was one of six people arrested in a November brothel raid. She entered the plea in Chesapeake General District Court with the aid of a Spanish interpreter.
Judge Timothy Wright will defer his finding in the case, which could be dismissed after a year if she remains on good behavior and reports her address on a monthly basis. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jason Barlow said Arias-De Rey also must submit to an HIV test and provide the results to his office.
She was the last person to be prosecuted after the raid at Providence Mobile Court at 1100 S. Military Hwy., near the Virginia Beach city line. The brothel operated out of a trailer seven days a week, police said.
A source told police that customers paid $30 for 15 minutes with a prostitute. Police surveillance revealed a “constant’’ flow of cars to the trailer, which sat on an unmarked road at the back of the park.
Flashing Christmas lights outside the trailer was the signal to customers that the brothel was open for business, police said.
In December, Margaret Townsen, 41, of Chesapeake was convicted of prostitution, sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $227 in court costs. A prostitution charge against Lucila Cazares-Gomez, 32, of Baltimore was withdrawn in December.
Herman Roberto Perez-Nolasco, 34, of Chesapeake was convicted in January for solicitation of prostitution and ordered to pay court costs. Alexander Landero-Martinez, 23, of Chesapeake pleaded guilty in February to aiding and assisting and was sentenced to a suspended 12 months in jail. He also was ordered to pay $693 in court costs.
Efingel Landero-Javier, 22, was convicted in February as a pimp in the prostitution ring. He was sentenced to three years in prison for felony pandering, with all but three months suspended. He told authorities that he entered the United States illegally in May 2005 and met a man who put him to work as a housekeeper and money collector in the prostitution operation. He is expected to be deported.
