CHESAPEAKE
The murder trial for James Boughton Jr., the 21-year-old Deep Creek man accused of shooting two Mormon missionaries in January 2006, has been delayed until November 10.
The trial was scheduled to begin Friday in Chesapeake Circuit Court with jury selection. B oughton's defense attorney, Andrew Sacks, said that he asked for the continuance after learning of new evidence in the case. Judge Randy Smith granted the motion for a continuance.
Boughton is to stand trial on charges of first-degree murder, malicious wounding and attempted malicious wounding and three firearm charges. Morgan W. Young of Bountiful, Utah, and Joshua Heidbrink of Greeley, Colo., were walking door-to-door on Elkhart Street in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake when they were shot. Young, 21, was killed.
Boughton is being held in the Chesapeake City Jail pending trial.

I've seen photos of Mr. Broughton and he appears to be a Bright Young Man. No insanity defense here. Perhaps the Defense has spoken with his Mother, and she has convinced them that her son is incapible of commiting such an act.

These young men didn't get a continuance when they were shot. They were just SHOT. How long is the Commonwealth going to prop up this guy with room and board?
