President George W. Bush will be the keynote speaker at a July 4th celebration at Monticello, the White House said today.
During Monticello's 46th annual Independence Day Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony, 75 people from 30 countries will be sworn in as citizens.
The event begins at 10 a.m., with admission free to the public. In addition to the naturalization ceremony, the event includes patriotic music and a Fourth of July picnic.
Bush is the fourth sitting president to participate in Independence Day celebrations at Monticello. Others include Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman and Gerald R. Ford. Speakers in recent years include the actor Sam Waterston and architect I.M. Pei.
