The husband in a couple found shot in their home last week has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, police said Thursday.
Jacob Johnson, 24, was arrested Wednesday at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, where he is in fair condition and being watched by sheriff’s deputies, police spokesman Adam Bernstein said.
Johnson, his wife, Kendra, and their two children had not been heard from for days when a relative went to their home Friday in the 3300 block of Springbreeze Court, police said. Kendra Johnson remained in critical condition Thursday.
The children, ages 2 and 4, were locked in a bedroom but opened a window. The relative climbed in, took the children outside, then returned and found the wounded couple.
Last Friday, investigators said it appeared to be a domestic dispute but details have not been released.
