A loggerhead sea turtle will be released on the public beach at Cape Charles on Monday, near where it stranded in June.

The turtle, named Hampton, was found at Silver Beach on the Eastern Shore on June 23 by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Hampton was lethargic, congested and sunburned.

It was cared for by the Virginia Aquarium Stranding Response Team until it was healthy enough to be returned to the wild. The release will be at approximately 9:30 a.m.
