Two fundraisers will benefit family of slain Beach detective

VIRGINIA BEACH

Two more fundraisers have been scheduled for Wednesday to benefit the family of Virginia Beach police Detective Michael Phillips, who was killed Aug. 7 in the line of duty.

The first fundraiser, a luncheon, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, 6350 Newtown Road, Norfolk. A lunch buffet will cost $5, and all proceeds will go to Phillips’ wife and two sons.

The second fundraiser will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at O’Sullivan’s Wharf, 4300 Colley Ave., Norfolk. There will be no cover charge, but donations will be accepted for the Phillips family.

Other ways to donate to his family include:

Mailing a check payable to “Terri Phillips” to any of the city’s four police precincts.

Donating to Account No. 122695 at Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union, 4164 Virginia Beach Blvd., or 2476 Nimmo Parkway, Suite 122.

Mailing a check payable to FOP No. 8, with “Michael Phillips” in the memo, to Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 8, P.O. Box 6102, Virginia Beach, 23456.
