Virginia Beach police investigating armed robbery of Food Lion

VIRGINIA BEACH 

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Food Lion by five men early Saturday morning, as employees were closing the store.

At 12:27 a.m., five men - four carrying small, black guns - entered the grocery store on the 1500 block of General Booth Boulevard and forced the employees into the back, said Margie Long, a spokeswoman for the Virginia Beach police department.

Employees were forced to lie on the ground and one was punched in the face during the incident, Long said.The five men fled from the back of the store, Long said.

Each of the five were described as black males, ranging in heights between 5-feet-11 to 6-feet-4 and 150 to 180 pounds. During the incident, they were all wearing black clothes and their faces were covered with black and white masks, Long said.
