Beach police make arrest in fatal Birdneck Village shooting

Virginia Beach police on Tuesday made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting Saturday night, a police spokeswoman said.

Quentin R. Morgan Jr., 20, of Norfolk was arrested late Tuesday and booked into the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on murder and firearm charges, according to jail records. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Police were called at 11:47 p.m. Saturday to the Birdneck Village apartments in the 1000 block of 24th St. When officers arrived, they found Hunter Christopher Abed, 23, of the 1000 block of 24th Street, lying in a doorway, Long said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
