NORFOLK
For the second time this week, the fumes from bug bombs were ignited inside a kitchen.
This morning, the fumes from three bug bombs that were set off in a kitchen at a home in the 1600 block of E. Indian River Road were ignited by the pilot light of a stove, said Battalion Chief Todd Cannon, a spokesman for Norfolk Fire-Rescue.
Dispatchers received the report for the fire at the home at 6:25 a.m., they said.
Firefighters found heavy smoke when they arrived and flames inside the kitchen, Cannon said. The fire was under control by 7:40 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
On Sunday night, several people were displaced by a fire inside a Hampton apartment after a bug bomb was released and the fumes were ignited by a stove.
The Red Cross helped five people displaced by the fire with food and lodging, the relief agency said.
