A North Carolina man wanted in connection with an attempted abduction in Hampton on Friday was arrested early Tuesday morning, police said.
An officer saw the suspect’s vehicle about 7 a.m. on Fox Hill Road and arrested him, a police statement said.
Edgar Villatoro Ruiz, 25, of Charlotte was charged with one count of sexual battery.
A 17-year-old girl told police on Friday that she was walking near North King Street and Mercury Boulevard when a man in a silver SUV asked her if she needed a ride.
After she accepted a ride to school the man began to touch her inappropriately, police said. She got away from the man and got out of the SUV near West Queen Street, police said.
