Outer Banks residents warned of potential storm Tuesday

Forecasters are predicting a storm with winds of up to 50 miles per hour developing off of Cape Hatteras Tuesday night.

Early wind forecasts are predicting winds of up to 40 miles per hour with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, said Dare County emergency management coordinator Sandy Sanderson.

Coastal residents “should monitor this system closely as it develops as there is potential for even greater winds and seas,” Sanderson said.
