VIRGINIA BEACH

Police announced today the arrest of one of three men suspected of robbing 10 people and sexually assaulting two women during a home invasion in September.

Richard “Richie” Richardson Jr., 19, of Virginia Beach, was charged with 90 felonies stemming from the Sept. 10 incident and a Sept. 7 street robbery, police spokeswoman Margie Long said.

Police say that about 10:55 p.m. Sept. 10, Richardson and two other men carried a handgun, rifle and shotgun as they forced their way into a unit at Pembroke Lake Apartments, in the 4700 block of Windermere Court. One man was punched in the face, two women were raped and a teenager who came to the door during the robbery was chased and shot outside the building. The teen survived.

The intruders escaped in a vehicle described as a brown and tan Pontiac Bonneville. A fourth person may have been a getaway driver, Long said.

In addition to the 84 counts related to the Pembroke Lakes Apartment, Richardson was charged with robbing two people at gunpoint on Sept. 7, Long said.

Richardson made an initial appearance in General District Court via closed circuit video. A date of Dec. 9 was set to determine who would represent him.

Police still are looking for two other men who took part in the home invasion. One was described as 18 to 21 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 240 pounds, with a small Afro and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The other was of unknown age, about 6 feet tall, and 165 to 190 pounds. He wore a stocking mask.
