Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Suffolk City offices and courts are closed today.

Virginia Beach City offices and courts are closed today and Saturday.

Some bank and credit unions will be closed today. Contact specific institutions.

Garbage collection

Chesapeake and Norfolk Regular garbage collection will take place today.

Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach Regular garbage collection will take place today. Have container at the curb by 7 a.m.

Hampton Roads Transit

HRT will operate on a Saturday schedule today, with no service on route 113 and a weekend schedule on route 967. Call (757) 222-6100.

Postal Service

Most offices will close at noon today. There will be regular mail delivery.

Public libraries

Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk and Virginia Beach Libraries are closed today and Saturday.

DMV All Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers are closed today and Saturday. Service for many common transactions is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.dmvnow.com and (888) 337-4782.

ABC Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control stores will be open until 6 p.m. Saturday.
