PORTSMOUTH
Portsmouth police said they seized computers and arrested five people on allegations they ran illegal gambling operations.
The arrests were made Thursday evening, police said Friday.
Officers with search warrants seized evidence from businesses at 2784 Airline Blvd. and 1925-A Victory Blvd., according to a police news release. The warrants came after an undercover investigation by police.
Officers seized computers, ATMs and surveillance systems, police said.
Five people were charged with conducting an illegal gambling operation:
- Emma J. Cummings, 67, of the first block of Bainbridge Boulevard
- Kenji N. Crocker, 29, of the 3700 block of Turnpike Road
- Jerome Wicks, 44, of the 300 block of Green Street
- Donnell A. Cherry, 28, of the 1400 block of Deep Creek Boulevard, Chesapeake
- Robert G. Judd, 54, of the 900 block of Englewood Drive, Chesapeake
The charge is a felony. Judd faces two counts.
