Chesapeake woman settles Burger King coffee suit

VIRGINIA BEACH

A woman who claimed she spilled hot coffee on herself and burned her leg after a Burger King employee gave her the drink in a paper bag has settled her lawsuit against the fast food chain.

Crystal Branch of Chesapeake had accused Burger King and an unnamed employee of negligence.

The incident occurred during a visit on Dec. 7, 2007, to the restaurant at 3952 Holland Road, according to court records. Branch claimed she was left with "severe and permanent burns to her left thigh," according to the lawsuit.

She had sought $50,000 in damages. The lawsuit was dismissed last month.

Branch's attorney, Daniel Miller, declined to disclose the settlement amount but said they were "satisfied that it was a fair resolution."

Knowing the outcome of a story like this has given me a pretty good idea on how to make a few fast bucks.

Actually

I think this was an act of terrorism. The terrorists win again!

Why on earth

has this article been up for two days? You mean to tell me that we have no more serious news than this?

Atty Daniel Miller

Do you have no regard for the reputation that you are building...it will last your lifetime and then be your legacy.

Dairy Queen

I'm going to contact her lawyer Daniel Miller. The associate at Dairy Queen didn't tell me my ice cream was cold and I got brain freeze. Boo hoo =(

That will be tough because

That will be tough because many of the local DQ's are owned by an ex-city councilman. I bet you run into 'conflict of interest' issues at most of the firms.

I have never been handed a

I have never been handed a bag of drinks from any fast food establishment. Mine are always delivered via drink carrier or handed to me directly. God bless the person that gets handed a bagful of super-sized cokes and lives to tell about it.

I wonder ----

Why stupid people, like this brain surgeon, are allowed to go out by themselves! Clumsy and stupid is a dangerous combination.

Double DUH!

Did you order Hot Coffee? Yes! Did you get Hot Coffee? Yes!

They ALWAYS had out the drink first - where else would it be except in the bag if you have not already gotten it?

Where is Darwin when you need him?
