Cut more!
The only way the budget will balanced if if the state government draws the line and cuts spending. Focus on basic education (K-12), transportation and public safety and start eliminating all these entitlement programs that are unsustainable without bankrupting the middle class through taxes and fees. Start putting revenue excess when it occurs into savings versus finding ways to increase the size of government! Ensure that everyone is taxed and start eliminating all the exemptions and waivers (not the botom 50 percent paying no taxes).
Fees and Taxes for VA
I feel it is in the best interest of every Virginian that we not have to deal with increased fees or taxes in VA at this time. We have so many unemployed people in our local area as well as across the state. With IP closing and VDOT cutting back we have an abundance of unemployed and there is no where for these employees or former employees to go except to VEC to apply for unemployment benefits and the lines continue to get longer every month across the state and across America. Those of us who are retired are not getting any raises in Social Security or our Virginia Retirement, but everything continues increasing. Between increases in household expenses and gas how can we continue going at this pace...something has to be changed or we all are going to sink deeper into debt. Suffolk is no different than the rest of the surrounding cities when it comes to needing more money to operate on. WE
all have to cut back in order to stay afloat and to get through this "down-turn" as some call it! I'm ready to turn my house phone off to save paying one of our utilities...then I won't have internet, but guess I can go to the library and sit in line to wait for a computer there and stay warm a
Call it like it is
The idea of "fees" is only a ruse to raise money without admitting they are taxes in disguise.
Call it what it is
A Tax Hike
I think
I don't trust our Governor, so I want to hear more about these "fees".

Ten bucks say's that if Kaine proposed them you would be ok with them.
you would be right
You would be right! I would agree and support it if Kaine had proposed taxes, but remember I trusted former Governor Kaine I DO NOT trust our new Gov.

Are Fees Tax Deductable?
Are Fees Tax Deductable? If not, they should be. But since they are really just another tax, I guess it would defeat the purpose, which is to collect more tax.
If more people start saving receipts and deducting the sum of the sales tax they pay, auditing would become an administrative nightmare on both sides. Adding fees to the mix would worsen it.
A simpler solution to the failing economy is to increase taxes on the rich (those who earn 250,000+ per year).
Fee's
Do you think fee's can be considered taxation without representation?
