Newport News police to seek opinions of residents

Police officials want to know how satisfied residents’ are with the service provided by the Police Department.

The department plans to use an automated system to call about 1,770 homes this weekend to ask nine questions about the level of satisfaction with the services provided by the department, a news release says.

A phone number will be provided to residents who want to offer additional comments, the release says.

The last time the department conducted such a survey was in 2006 when 92 percent of the people surveyed said they felt the overall performance of the department was satisfactory or better.
