A Virginia Beach man accepted his $1 million scratch-off prize from Virginia Lottery officials Tuesday morning at the Jr. Market on Sandbridge Road.
Joseph Daniels, bought five Virginia’s $5 Million Club tickets from the store Thursday.
The last one he scratched turned out to be the winning ticket.
The $1 million prize he won is an annuity paid out over 25 years, a lottery news release said.
Daniels chose to take the cash option of $642,000 before taxes.
The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket, according to the release.
Daniels, a car dealership finance manager, said he plans to pay off his mortgage with his prize, according to the release.

Cool. My dad used to do
Cool. My dad used to do taxes as a part time thing while retired and had a lottery winner come in. He advised the guy go get professional assistance with managing the money. The interesting this is, it sounds like this guy works in finance.
wow
If only we all could afford to buy handfuls of $20 lottery tickets... Tomorrow I put in my last modification request to try to keep my home for another 90 days. ::sigh::

Good luck to you and your family - you keep your head up and do what you need to do knowing you are not alone in this situation. I hope you are successful in your mortgage work out. Have you called your state and federal representatives? Sometimes their offices can do what no one else can do.
Don't spend all your money
Don't spend all your money delaying the inevitable.
Totally Irrational
Never bought a lottery ticket; never will. If this is news, God help us all.
The lottery is one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated on the public.
Wow, thats Exciting!
I am always excited to see my fellow man get a windfall. It gives us all hope that maybe it could happen to us! Just think how happy they are!
It's good to read a positive news story!

Congragulations I am so happy for you! Enjoy
And,
Would someone please point out the skill involved in the winning of a randomly picked ticket? I'm still trying to rationalize Portsmouth's standard of logic.
Because...
The lottery is a surtax on people who are bad at math, which is legal.

Although I play the lottery, I still had to laugh at your post.
