Man on beach run over
The man on the beach was taking a nap and enjoying his leisure time. Someone driving a trash truck runs over and kills him. It's very disgusting and it should be posted to locals and tourist that if you're not careful a trash truck may run over you and you may lose your life and no one in Va Beach which are the powers to be show any concern for this man or his family. This employee with her driving record is still driving and no retaliation for having run over and killed someone on the beach in broad daylight. It seems very disturbing that with the beach as large as it is if she were looking she most definitely would have seen a chair with a man in it. There was 3 sets of eyes in that truck so no excuse for doing what was done.
Va Beach Employee Heather Boyd with a license to kill.
To work for the city as a truck driver with 8 traffic violations is outrageous. How did she still have a license to drive a truck? Why was she still employed by the city? I hope her's and her superiors heads roll for this.
2-3 mph??
How can someone driving 2-3 mph not see a chair sitting in the open spaces long before she is looking down to check a trash can? I'm guessing that she saw the chair, thought it was empty and decided to crush it, not realizing someone was sleeping in it. She not only needs to be fired but also charged with vehicular manslaughter. Not being a lawyer I have no idea if that charge is appropriate, but she needs to be charged in this mans death, homeless or not. I agree with an earlier post, whoever hired this person should be terminated. If they did not review her driving record before hiring her to drive, or worse yet, did review her driving record and still hired her deserve to be terminated. If it is found that she was hired due to nepotism, the relative should also be fired. Time to clean house along with the beach.
After the facts are in
A snippet of information here and there in the newspaper is insufficient (unlike others) to render a decision.
If this was a SCHOOL BUS
If this was a SCHOOL BUS DRIVER she would have already been fired. Funny though how these trash truck drivers make more money than bus drivers! So much for precious cargo uh?
Truck drivers
How can overtired, drowsy drivers of any kind be checked in this 'by god, I'm an American and they can't tell me what to do' society? New container port opening mean many many more trucks on the road and the need gets critical. Employee of anyone should have some criteria and regulation--there I said it.
Kudos to the Virginian Pilot
Kudos to the Pilot for not letting this story die. Only the printed word can go into the depths of a story and investigate the background, then publish it. Whether Mr. Krockett was homeless or just napping on a public beach is not the issue. The behavior of the City of Virginia Beach in trying to cover up the negligence of the employee is in itself criminal. I hope that this issue willl continue to make the front page and that the courts will see justice is done to both the Beach and the driver. Thank you again, Pilot.
The "Rest of the Story" is coming out now
I guess now it isn't taking a Sherlock Holmes to figure out why the city has been acting like they have over this incident. While I wonder how the driver got her job in the first place, the ones who should be fired are the higher ups who have been lying to the public and working to cover this up. They never learn, as Watergate showed, it's not usually the "crime" but the "coverup" that gets you.
Lunacy!
Should this incompetent, disrespectful of the law, now murderer, lose her job? Be real! This woman needs to be in jail! I am outraged that assuming there's a lawsuit (and why shouldn't there be?), I, and all other citizens of Va. Beach, will be paying with our tax dollars. The City personnel who hired this irresponsible person, and allowed her to continue to sit behind a city truck subjecting everyone to her criminal driving, should be held accountable. The City attorney who is trying to mitigate the city's culpability by withholding information and tapes, should be taken to task. RIP, poor innocent man trying to enjoy the sunshine.
trash truck driver
I dont know bout anyone else, but i think three violations should be the limit. I certainly wouldnt have hired her to be a driver, not w her record. And i cant belueve that one only loses ones license at 18 points! Thats way too many in my book. After 8points, one should lose the license and be required to retake the driving test, written, driving, and eye. Somethings obviously wrong w this womans judgment, as is dmv's, if she cant maintain control of her car or keep up the registration. Accountability at the first few violations prob would have nipped this in the bud long ago, preventing this occurance.
