This Navy used costly battleships much beyond their usefulness. The Army used Bradley's much beyond their effectiveness. Could it be that JFCOM has outlived its purpose. Jointness is the state of the art. It does not need study nor training. It just is. Time to move on! The biggest joke is all of these local politicians who always react and can never see these things coming. Obama is the greatest President that this country has had in the 21st century, not afraid to tackle the difficult. He is finally trying to "right-size" our defense.

With the downsizing of the Armed Forces by the present administration, it's to be expected. Maybe it will be replaced by a military type national police force headquarters that will be needed when the our new socialistic government needs to declare martial law.

BRAC has already closed up all the easy bases. And since our area has one of the highest concentrations of military bases anywhere, we have to expect that our facilities are liable to be looked at when budgets and deficits are cut, or politicians rail against tax increases. Lastly, lets not forget, that next to entitlements, defense is the next biggest part of the budget, and the political damage is limited to one area or state.

If this is political payback because Virginia elected a Republican Governor, then what was the political payoff for Virginia for electing Webb, Warner, Nye and Scott?

The closing of this facility is PURE POLITICAL PAYBACK for Va. electing a Republican administration. Typical Chicago politics. "The Messiah" got his feeliongs hurt and now he's throwing a tantrum and punishing us "little kids'. Why won't he cut out the Pork social programs. These have led us to a clas of people TOTALLY dependant on the gov. and unwilling to put out the effort to provide for themselves. In these times of horrible job losses we don not need to lose another 3000! Oh That's right, The recession is OVER according Our "Beloved" Pres.

The only place that the current administration can save money is defence. But they need to cut the spending for new weapons systems and the support there in. All bidding should be open and the better bidder should be the winner. Keep in mind that any changes made to the contracts are gold for the defence contractors.
There is too much redundancy in way too many commands, every major command has a desk to support the weapon system.
So, the current administration will cut defence a lot more before it's over to pay for all it's liberal social programs.
