This week, The Salvation Army will begin distributing school supplies collected during The Write Stuff donation campaign.

Parents and guardians can go to the Norfolk distribution site at 5516 Raby Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today to Friday, according to a news release. Anyone seeking the supplies must fill out an application and bring a picture ID and proof of income or public assistance. They also must bring a birth certificate and Social Security card for each child age 4 to 18.

The annual campaign, run by The Salvation Army and WVEC-TV, helped more than 2,000 children in 2009, a 64 percent increase over 2008, the release says.

This year’s campaign was sponsored by Chick-fil-A, Farm Fresh and Grand Furniture.
