When has a politician

ever supported making government smaller. Privatize. The retail business is not a legit function of govt.

State Liquor Sales Are Immoral

Regardless of whether Virginia's treasury would gain or lose money by the privatization of the state monopoly on wholesale and retail liquor sales, the privatization should move forward.

Selling liquor -- or any consumer product, for that matter -- is not a legitimate function of government.

Virginia should never have been in the liquor business in the first place. Privatizing ABC needs to be done swiftly, as a matter of principle. Those who say "I agree with the plan in principle but..." don't really have principles to begin with.

The General Assembly will do something historic and long overdue by passing a privatization plan. Bring Virginia into the 2010s; don't linger in the 1930s.

If there is no net loss

to the Commonwealth's income, I favor privatization. So far the Governor has not proven that will be the case. Let's see a realistic business plan. The power point is not that.

ABC stores

The state should shed the liquor business if it hasn't produced a profit. If the state wants to profit from future sales by private liquor sales concerns, then yes, add some taxes, but that shouldn't be to make up previous losses by the state for bad business practices.

how do you figure?

ABC stores bring about $250 million to the Commonwealth's bottom line. What is your definition of profit?

losing jobs and revenue

Losing jobs and revenue is not a good plan no matter how you look at it.

You're right.

Instead of working for a living let's all work 30 hour a week part time jobs for the state with no benefits. We don't need benefits we have Obamacare.

nice shot, but

Obama has nothing to do with this it's all on our guvnor.

Reminds me of

The Obama stimulus package promising no higher than 8% unemployment.
