Va. Beach police investigate credit union robbery

VIRGINIA BEACH

Police are investigating a credit union robbery that occurred this afternoon inside a Dam Neck area grocery store.

At about 12:30 p.m., a man entered the Farm Fresh at 1615 General Booth Blvd. and approached at clerk at the Charway Federal Credit Union inside, said Officer Jimmy Barnes, a police spokesman. He handed the clerk a note demanding money and implying he had a weapon, obtained money and left, he said.

No one was injured.

Police canvassed the area, but were unable to apprehend the robber.

The robber is described as a white male in his 20s or 30s with short, brown hair, long sideburns and slight facial hair, police said. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 180 to 190 pounds, Barnes said. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans and was carrying a small brown or orange bag.
