Isn't a tax incentive just
Another form of corporate welfare? If there is no real welfare for the people, there definitely shouldn't be welfare for the corporations, however precious their feelings might be.
I must be halucenating!!!
Did the title or question in the poll really ask if one supports tax adjustments to bring manufacturing jobs back here? You've outdone yourself this time Pilot.
Why stop there
Why just manufacturing jobs? How about a flat, competitive tax rate that will attract ALL types of businesses? I’d hate to think government would manipulate our rotting tax system even further in an attempt to influence yet another piece of the economy and favor a particular class of workers. I’d appreciate non-union jobs too.
But in order to be effective, the regulatory environment would need to be considered alongside any tax incentives.
do the opposite raise taxes on companies that offshore
I lost my computer help-desk job in 2002 because the company didn't want to spend $11 an hour plus benefits for US citizens to answer their phones and instead opened an office in Mumbai where they could pay $0.50 an hour and no benefits. Had the company known they would have been taxed at the pay difference for every person they hired in Mumbai for 5 years, those jobs would have never left the US.
If
The 50% who do not pay taxes, taxes levied on foreign companies increase, lower corporation taxes, and loop holes stopped, and Congress adhere to the laws we abide by it might help to rebuild the manufacturing base.
Time for a flat tax system
Neva Hoppen, Joe!
Having watched the GOPpols on Washington Journal who are asked this question, I've noticed that the usual response from the right is to spend minutes castigating the President, then asking the host what the question was. Conveniently, they are out of time for that caller.
Personally, I think it's a GREAT idea, but it will never clear congress until folks wake up and see that anti-tax fanatics in congress need to be sent back home to their cuckoo's nest.
Tax code
The tax code needs to be changed, and Federal Spending needs to be CUT and curtailed on entitlements. The only way to increase revenues to the treasury and reduce our debt is to revamp the tax code. A national sales tax may be an option, providing you due away with the graduated income tax. Remember we don't have a tax problem, the government has a SPENDING PROBLEM.
