Start at the top

Eliminate perks and excessive pay for Congressman/women. The don't deserve it.

Next, thin the flag and officer ranks first. There are way too many scrambled eggs in the services; before pointing fingers at the enlisted ranks, eliminate some of these paper pushers.

Start eliminating the thousands of forward deployed foreign operating bases and installations (including most cold war bases/installations) that serve no viable purpose other than to help support the host country. We don't have to be the guardian of the world. We're not capable (financially or militarily)of being everybody's "big brother."

Eliminate sole source contracting and back scratching in the uniformed services procurement divisions. There's more, but this is a start.

military cuts

pull out all troops from afghanistan a war without end . Problem solve.

Here are some facts that many have forgotten:

1. The military's mission is to fight, sustain and win wars. It should not be used to rescue 2 hostages in Somalia, build sewers in Haiti, or rebuild houses and yards in foreign countries destroyed by nature's clamities.
2. It is not a "Force for Good" (Navy). Maybe "good" for protecting the American people.
3. Through our country's history, we have never been ready for war after being attacked. We have had the good fortune that time was on our side to build, prepare, and eventually conquer (except for Vietnam, Korea, and now the Middle East.
4. "Special Forces" cannot deal with China, Russia, and Koreas standing armies. There a millions upon millions of them and they hate us and everything we stand for.
5. Our military protects our freedoms,

The Norfolk Base Commissary

The Norfolk Base Commissary has the distinction of being the Commissary where the most food stamps are used by our military. Sure, let's cut active duty pay even more. Does anyone ever notice that welfare recipient's pay along with our elected representatives pay and benefits are never, ever on the table... Makes me sick.

I guess

those military folks using food stamps should be tested for drugs. That makes me sick!

Excuse Me

They already are tested so make all get tested that use Food Stamps You Know So it is FAIR

Is Congress and the DOD aware of all the experts available here

Everyone has an opinion, especially when it affects them. For once it woulkd be nice if everyone thought about America as a whole and not just how much money they will lose. You cant scream about the deficit and refuse to do anything that might affect you.

Defense Cuts

America must remember that we didn't become a Great nation becuase government spent money on entitlements, we became great becuase we held the Federal Government accountable for the dollars it spent. That spending, according to the law of the land (U.S. Constitution), limits government to spend on national defense. In a business sense it is the only entity that has no return on investment, that's why the founding fathers limited federal expenditures to defense. What must be cut is entitlements, the federal unions and government work force. Privatize those jobs and watch revenues to the federal treasurey go up, watch unemployment go down.
It's easy math, easier than Obama's Keynsian math of state controlled economics. Capitalism works!

Let's start with Congressional pay cuts

Before we cut/put a hold on military pay, let's first see them cut pay/cut health benefits/cut retirement benefits for ALL MEMBERS of Congress, the President, the VP, Cabinet members, etc.....they are always talking about the 'middle class' - but they NEVER cut their own salaries and benefits, only those of the 'middle class' they so vehemently say they are working for......
