Rates set for Cape Hatteras beach-driving permits: $120 a year

Drivers also can pay $50 for a weekly permit. The rates will become effective Feb. 15, along with another rule that restricts driving on 26 miles of the 67-mile seashore.

Fishermen plan to rally over catch-data issue

More than 5,000 watermen, charter captains and weekend anglers from the East Coast showed up for the first United We Fish rally in Washington, D.C. Officers of the RFA are equally upset now and have planned a second rally in Washington. Keep Fishermen Fishing is scheduled for March 21.
