One dead, four hurt in Ocracoke fireworks truck explosion
All injured were crew members of Melrose Pyrotechnics who were working on the island’s Fourth of July fireworks show. The explosion occurred at about 9 a.m. on the campus of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching.

Home sales swell and prices rise in April
Sales of existing homes picked up in South Hampton Roads in April, and home prices rose slightly as the spring selling season continued at a steady pace, according to a report released Friday. Real Estate Information Network Inc. released data showing that 841 homes sold last month, up 5.3 percent from March but 15.1 percent below the number sold in April 2008.

Story - Town Point Park shows off a new lookI remember thinking when the park was first built how nice it would be when the trees matured ..., and when they finally did - the city cuts them down and starts over.
