Do you agree with a state police report saying Hampton Roads might be a breeding ground for terrorism?

No way
While certainly there's the possibility of the odd terrorist deciding to strike, I think (contrary to what our Homeland Security Director & Attorney General obviously believe) our large active & former military presence & their families ensure we have less to worry about than most metropolitan areas because military service tends to engender tolerance & love of country - certainly way more than areas overloaded w/ organizations representing the radical side of Greenies, gays & other Left wing groups.
And while singling out "historically black universities" as a basis for needing watched is about as racist a notion as one could imagine, what is & is not now being taught in ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS might warrant putting some NEA leaders on a subversive watchlist.
Say What!!!
What book was it that was found in the unabombers hideout? Hint: It wasnt one by Mark Levine or Ann Coulter.
Fear and Hatered are not the answer
I guess that one could say that all of us have the potential to be criminals. However, I personnally do not buy in this train of thought. I understand how the State Police and The Department of Home Land Security have come to their conclusions and it is not for reasons of being politicially correct that I disagree with them. I am somewhat of an optimist and believe that the vast majority of Americans think positively enough about our nation that they would never be influenced into joining any terriorist groups. We can't go around suspecting people around us simply because they just came back from a war zone or are studing in a university or whatever the powers in charge can come of with. I may be a bit nieve, but I take most people around me at face value and don't suspect them of any possible wrong doing unless they give me a real good reason to think different. I agree that there has been way too much fear and hate in regards to the terrorist situation in our country. I think this kind of thinking makes the real terrorist gleeful.
AMEN Larsen....
I wish everyone or at least majority of the posters here are as eloquent as you are or at least start reading and understanding what was presented rather than use every opportunity they have to bash someone or express their displeasures in life...Life is too short folks, stop being hateful...
Odd how "The Left" is not on "the list", but "The Right" is ...
Hum, what political party siezed power in our nation? Gotta use "law enforcement" to attack their political "enemies", right?
The undertone of terrorism within Hampton Roads Universities. .
When our country sanctions the likes of Professor William Ayres teaching our young adults, what else would you suspect. There are many more like Ayres who use their teaching platforms to preach the gospel of Marxism and wealth redistribution.
Terrorists activities, anywhere in this country, should be monitored and quickly squelched, however, be very careful to not misconstrue and consequently step on an individual's Constitutional Right to free-speech. Which means, don't become too extreme in the process of keeping secret lists/records on those considered by the State to have extremists' ideas.
Although, Hampton Roads is most likely considered a good region of opportunity.
Fusion report
Suggestions:
Take every report about terrorism and extremism seriously, but do not infer information that they do not state,
Do not take them as personal accusations, but consider them to be indicative of possible trends,
Keep your eyes and ears open,
Know your neighbors,
Consider gangs to be terrorists, by definition,
Speech is a cherished freedom, so is the "pursuit of life..."
Remember that "eternal vigilance is forever the price of freedom."
They're everywhere
And they're probably domestic now, because Barack Obama has so improved our image around the world that nobody wants to attack us anymore.
Hasn't the Pilot been paying attention, reading the DHS reports?
VA STATE POLICE THREAT ASSESSMENT
Be a well informed citizen not a zombie of the Pilot and read the report.

If the report bases its
If the report bases its findings on the fact that we have Universities in the area then the report is flawed and possibly quite racist. Because we have international students in the area we must be a hotbed of terrorism is quite a poor correlation. Are there stats concerning exactly how many people, if any, from this area or connected to this area are actual terrorists?
