Votes
All my children have minds of there own. They do need bad actors, comedians or preachers to tell them whom to vote for. They know the difference between the workers and those who take the free ride. My son’s likes this quote from Alice Cooper;” If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are.” Vote smart and not with your heart-

These starry-eyed kids are all for Obama and the high-minded ideas these limosine-liberal push, that is until the get mugged or buy their first home and see what they will be paying in taxes for the things they supported like free health care for "the poor"....
Then they get downright conservative...once they see those who they're supporting and what they want to do with the money they earn....

kstebritz,
I'm glad your son is concerned about the future of our country and is ready to take an active role as a citizen by exercising the right to vote. I think it is important, for all voters, to carefully consider what each candidate has offered as a plan for our country, especially this year when the two candidates have major differences on important issues. Strictly looking at energy policies, I agree with Obama's plan to decrease our reliance on foreign oil by improving conservation and CAFE standards (which I think the market will take care of by itself, since few people want to buy a car with under 20 mpg and gas over $4.00), but I disagree with his plan to create a windfall profit tax on big oil companies. This just disincentivizes making a profit, and as capitalists we should have every right to make as much money as we can without breaking the existing laws. As for McCain, I agree with his policy of building more nuclear plants to replace coal power plants, but I disagree with offshore drilling for a few reasons that no Republican I have seen can seem to answer. One, where is the oil that we get going to be refined if we don't build more refineries? How do we k

I’m proud to say my 19 year old son will be voting this election. He is concerned about the future, and is tired of taxes taking so much of his earned money (already). He supports the drilling of off shore oil with energy alternatives. I know he is smart and intelligent. He has done his research on the candidates, and I am pleased he does not drink the democrat Kool Aid. He will not be voting for Obama and Obama will not “CHANGE” his mind.
They haven't learned what change refers to
The problem is inexperienced people haven't learned that when a politician says he's going for change, he means what's left in your pocket after the first round of taxes.
Young Vote
Why do people continue to comment about the young vote for President. Their vote for Senator and Congress are more important. Most votes will not count unless they are in a state that follows the popular vote. Other wise what will their vote do, nothing except voice a choice they would like. If we teach them early on why their vote for low end politicans are the way to achieve the voice they need, nothing will change. They should be taught early to make a choice and vote early for those who have electoral voting ballot choices. I admire a youth that speaks out but without the ability to sway someone who already made a choice what are we to do. Will the vote of the young carry any weight in our current choice, only in those states (a small few) will it have any impact. That of course is the sad part of the whole system. I believe each voice should be heard and acted upon as valued americans. How do you think the young american at war feels about that vote he casts to effect a change in his future, only to realize if he can it does not matter. Sad we are.
swayed by media
The young voters will most likely vote for whoever is on Oprah or David Letterman. The youth seem to listen to the celebrities and all their liberal views. I've asked several young voters that I know to tell me why they are voting for a certain candidate, they don't have an intelligent answer, nor can they tell me what this candidate has done to earn their vote. They simply say, "he's for change." What change? They can't tell me! They think this person will solve all their problems. They rarely read the newspaper or research their candidate. They are uninformed voters, and I'm hoping they will be too busy to vote.
Obama has inspired young people
Obama has inspired young people, and they will come out to vote for him. Our long national nightmare will soon be over.
Resounding...
Yes! And I'm not just saying that because my 19 year old daughter will be voting for the first time. Both major parties (and especially the Democrats) have made a major push for registration this past year. Mostly for the Primaries. I'm proud to say my kid will probably vote conservative this year, (that doesn't necessarily mean Republican) but I don't know for sure. You see, I just taught her values and concepts. She's going to make her own decision. Me: I'm voting third party. Bring on Bob Barr. Time to bring back Conservatism!
