No doubt about the name. There was a concession stand with a huge sign that said CHIC'S BEACH. As a Kempsville High School kid back in the 50's..... I lived at Chesapeake Beach close to that particular beach. I have some great memories of the fun we used to have there.
A lot of the kids from my school hung out on that beach every summer and had some fantastic times.

What a weird breakdown on voting! Anyone knowing the history knows that it was named after someone's nickname, which was Chick, not Chic. Must be the nouveau Chick's residents who think Chic upgrades the "low rent" nomenclature. What snobs.

"Chic's Beach was the name of a concession stand run by Chic and Audrey Ledington, and the name somehow got passed along to the stretch of beach where teenagers hung out in the '50s and '60s."
Sadly, the Virginia Pilot runs stories twice a year about the naming and by their own admission, knows the name is Chic's Beach but prefers to call it Chick's Beach, further misinforming the public.
