Maybe, like Citibank, Virginia Symphony Orchestra is too important to let fail! While it would be a terrible blow to the artistic integrity of Hampton Roads to lose the Symphony concerts, have you considered other music aspects which would be lost? The Symphony musicians are active as teachers/instructors/professors in many of the local schools and universities. They are also active in area places of worship, particularly at any kind of special service. Their studios provide individual students with private instruction. The Symphony members form the orchestra for Virginia Opera. I read recently in The Pilot of a program introducing elementary school students to the orchestral instruments and I expect they do many more good things that I'm not even aware of. So, yes, I think the city should continue to support Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
