rif-raffing rappers? Please

rif-raffing rappers? Please say your being facetious.

Listen I've lived in others cities and as it stands this area's major down fall is two things. it's propensity for classism disputes amongst the cities which keep it from just making one big city. if new york can do it then so should the seven cities. think about it.

Secondly the transportation system. It would be the glue to hold the whole area together and the cities fail to see that. they spend all this money on tourist trap filler but nothing to hold it all together. A healthy city is more than just a tourist trap it is there for it's citizens as well.

Light Rail Trolley Systems Were Discontinued in Past

The Light Rail system is a renewal of the old trolley system that was discontinued years ago. Do you think there was no reason to discontinue? The cost to the taxpayer was prohibitive. The convenience was marginal. The maintenance was expensive. Traffic was interrupted. This area in not an urban center with the population density that would justify light rail. The reason for the development of VB, Chesapeake and other outlying areas was to escape the urban downtown of Norfolk. Suburbs were developed and the family automobile made this possible. Residential communities were and still are popular where raising a family in a safe, quiet, clean community with good churches, schools and recreation is what we have accomplished. To rebuild the urban environment with down-towns, crime, mass transit and government overview is not only undesirable but will result in the peace loving citize

VA Beach made a good

VA Beach made a good decision in opposing the light rail. Right now, I believe that VA Beach has already placed enough on their tax payers! With the construction of Towne Center, construction of Birdneck Road, the future planning for construction of Princess Anne Road, the Beltway to Chesapeake, they finally started the construction of Lynnhaven Parkway after how many years? not really knowing what to do with the "Dome" location down at the beach, and then you have the convention center...these things should all be dealt with first before bringing in the light rail. Can VA Beach roads have one more thing occupying them? I remember how backed up Independence Blvd and Rosemont Road use to be when Norfolk Southern would run. So the railway stopped, but then here comes Towne Center! The 264 interchange at Independence is definitely something else that needs to be re-configured. Then you hav

"Light Rail should go up to

"Light Rail should go up to Williamsburg and meet up with AmTrack"

Amen brother.

Hello!?

Seriously though- it only makes 'cents'.

Privately

It should be built privately by a private firm who can fund it, design it, build it, charge appropriately for its use and make a profit, maintain it, and then turn the asset over to the state in 30 years. In no other way, shape, or form, should it be built.

Light-rail to Virginia Beach

To whom it may concern:
For those of you who think rifraf are the only people riding the bus, may I refer you to the the article posted June or July 2006 on the expansion of ODU classes to The Virginia Beach Higher Ed. CTR. It was about the expansion, but it also mentioned me: a single mother and cancer patient struggling to get a degree at ODU. I have no car, and the bus can take up to three hours. To update you: the cancer came back in my lungs so that three hour bus trip in physically exhauting.
Second, if you believe only rifraf ride the bus you must have never ridden the bus!Gas prices are through the roof, and many people have left their cars at home instead of pay the high prices.
Third, I'll tell you what I see when I ride the bus; elderly people who can't drive anymore, young teenagers who can't drive yet, hardworking people who just can't afford a car and its upkeep even though they work three jobs, stud

?????

This should have been done ten years ago..Thats how old this idea is..no wait I could be wrong..this idea could be twenty years old..Mass transit for Hampton Roads I mean Tidewater what a great idea..Light rail should have been done when Norfolk got rid of their trolleys..Light Rail should go up to Williamsburg and meet up with AmTrack

Also to ocean view.

They should run a line from MacArthur Mall right up the center of Granby Street to Ocean View; and one straight up Hampton Blvd onto the Naval Base. There, it would continue north and make a right at Aircraft Towway, follow that around towards Gate 4, but make a left at FASOTRAGRULANT and head for Navy Housing. Exit that area onto 4th View, turn right on to Ocean View Avenue and connect with the line coming in at Granby. And if they ran a line from the Granby intersection down the center of East Ocean View Avenue, I'd bet that lots more people wouild visit the Ocean View beaches.

Did you not hear "NO" the first time???

Virginia Beach has already nixxed this idea once, and they will do it again! Who want's Norfolk's rif-raffing rappers to have easy access to the Oceanfront? Certainly not VA Beach citizens --- keep them where they belong on Church Street!
