There's an old saying that my right to throw a punch at you ends at the tip of your nose! In other words, while you may have a (so-called) 'right' to perform or engage in certain actions, when it starts to disturb MY free enjoyment of peace and quiet, then your behavior has become divisive and disruptive. In another day and time, we would have depended on common sense, common decency, and public etiquette to temper and control our rambunctious behavior, but no longer! How shamefully embarrassing that a group which calls itself 'Christian' should engage in such adolescent tantrums, even to the point of asserting that, without that humonguous, 12-ft cross, they can't get their point across! What a bunch of idiots! They've just managed to make a mockery out of 2,000 years of sacred, biblical teachings. They should be spanked, and made to stand in the corner until they learn what words like humility, reverence, and respect for others means.

Aaahhh yes, we should all sport the symbols of our beliefs. Let me see, there used to be scarlet A's; what was that for again?? Then there were the yellow stars some were forced to wear; that did not go so well. How about all the religious people carry around a bucket of blood symbolizing that which has been shed in the name of their respective beliefs. That might put most people on an even footing. Oh rats! That would leave out the atheists who don't really give a wet slap about spilling blood for silly human egotism. Can't please them all. Wasn't there a song...a commercial..how did it go...?? "My dogma's better than your dogma...." Oh that's not right. Species 5618, please get over yourselves.
I attend public events to have fun. I don't want anyone's opinion slammed into my face. I have to put up with the advertising, which can be like a bad B movie set getting paid for each time the logo's seen. It gets overwhelming but at least that money is helping make the event happen. Why not just all wear shirts that give out your message? After all the WWJD was pretty popular and really got the message out to many people. Like the bright pink house in your neighborhood, you might be the only ones who enjoy that cross.
As a Christian, I am appalled by the actions of Mr. Taylor. It is not the size of a cross that determines our testimony or our faith. It is only the focus of our heart and the relationship that we have with Jesus Christ.
The law said no larger than 8 feet. If he had an 8 foot cross, there would be no controversy and he would have been able to display it while sharing the gospel. But, all he has done now is to further drive a wedge in the heart of man. Thank you, Mr. Taylor, for proving the point of atheists and agnostics and all those who despise organized religion. The faith of a follower of Jesus Christ is only determined by the actions of mercy and grace, because that is what Jesus teaches us.

Changing restrictions imposed by the government based on religion is a direct violation of Constitutional rights. If the question asked if anyone should be allowed to put up any large display, then "no" might be a valid answer.
divisive and disturbing
