As educators we know that there is nothing like having a person (also classmates) to bounce ideas, get feedback, share insights, all of which make learning meaningful to life. This is just silly.
We also know that sports do NOT develop good attitudes, relationships, honesty, and character(studies show repeatedly) and that all the $$ for teams could be better spent. Besides community sports are better at it anyway--let sports be sports. PE is different and very necessary--all the more these days.

How is that going to work ? Some things just can't be done online . What is your 100 yard dash time online ? I did a thousand 'online' push ups this morning and 800 sit ups and my finger is real tired from all that mouse work.
Come on , get real and not virtual !

In a regular gym class there is an instructor there to watch the activities and make sure they are done. Doing gym online allows more cheating room for kids that don't want to do anything physical. Who makes sure they are actually exercising and not just making up numbers or whatever. How do they learn teamwork, and being responsable for their part of the teamwork?
Also, is this just a ploy by the school system to make more time for rote memerization for SOL's instead of actual learning?

NO - If you believe it won't be an excuse to goof off or that students won't be able to circumvent the system and laugh quietly back at you for being so gullible, you're sadly mistaken. Don't waste the taxpayers money on such a frivolous venture. The adage "Trust but Verify" comes to mind, which simply means - only visual verification will work.

..to get kids and adults more active is a good thing. Everyone is not a team player, but that does not mean that they should not exercise. Lots of sports are a race with yourself and we need to build upon those self-motivational skills. I was thinking, (scarey eh?), that support groups find people at their lows and bring them back up; but often cause them to rely solely upon the group for their motivation instead of teaching them self-reliance and self-motivation. America is the home of self-motivated, entrepreneurial individuals and it is what makes us great, (jeeez, a flag waving moment). So, if they can stay in their own space and do the exercise (monitoring and verification required) then more power to us all. Not to mention that people who are exercising, regardless of where, are not doing gang activities, crime, drugs, etc. Just do it! (Nike, show me the money!) ☺☺☺
online PE? seriously?

Anything we can do ...

How would that work? Isn't
How would that work? Isn't phys ed/online an oxymoron? No, that's not it. Contradiction in terms?
