Should surviving World War II-era merchant mariners be compensated for GI benefits they were denied?

This shouild have been done a long time ago
I am just wondering about the people who voted no on this survey. I am not sure, but I would say that many of them also have little respect or appreciation for our military or law enforcement people. Those men risked their lives and some died helping to defend our country during a time of war. The fact that they were never included in the GI Bill in the first place tells me how little our country understands the contributions that the Merchant Marines do for this nation during a time of war. I think that it is way past time for some action such as this to come out of congress.
The results speak volumes
The results speak volumes in this survey. You bet these men deserve benefits. If I ever had a say where my tax dollars go it would be for men like these men and our vets all of them
WWII GI Benefits
Statute of Limitations has run it's course. ninety-five percent of the possible beneficiaries are already dead; it wouldn't be passed along after death; and if Congress has failed to act over the many decades past, just let it fade away. Now is not the time to put another hole in the hull of a sinking ship. Note though, the shame for the lack of support our elected representatives have shown towards the men and women whose lives they put on the line for their own self benefit.
Unsung heroes
The Merchant Mariners are the unsung heroes of WW11. I had a friend who was torpedoed several times during the Mermansk run. Yet, he went back time after time, until he was unable to continue. Where whould the Allies had been had there were no ships to transport the needed material? Yes, they certainly should be compensated, and given the proper place in our history that they so richly deserve.
