What is wrong with the very simple yet precious principle of a free marketplace? You walk in and don't like either the decor, cleanliness, product, employees attitudes, or smoking environment you turn around and walk out to the competitors establishment with your valuable money. The losing establishment either suffers significantly enough to change his/her ways, or no...there's no effect whatsoever due to public contentment with the way it is, so the owner continues earning a living thru their business of which he/she solely put the hard work and financial risk into making exist in the first place. What in Sam Hill's name is wrong with that?! When did that right of the free American individual and marketplace, get taken away? Where's the outrage of the greater principle of American freedom and inalienable rights to the pursuit of happiness which flatly applies here?!
Today the self-righteous mindset overcomes the reality of the sacrifice of freedoms and liberty being made for the hollow and selfish victory of forcing someone else to comply to your thinking and only your thinking. Very much like the religious zealots of our past, and of the present in the middle east. Not to mentio

The smoking ban law is ridiculous. Any ban should be up to the individual owners to decide if they want smoking in their establishments or not. The state should not be involved in this in any way, shape or form.
Do you know who started all this crap with his progressive tax on all tobacco products back in the late 60's? Your friend: John Sidney McCain. I truly hope they tax your coke next to keep you healthy and fit.

Your freedom ends when you have to have someone hold your hand like a child. It's funny how ridiculous people like you sound when the bar/restaurant is telling you "If you don't like smoke, you may not want to eat/drink here" AND YOU STILL COMPLAIN! It's sad, really. If an establishment doesn't want my family (I have two young kids), then why would I want to eat there? I go somewhere else... That's freedom, man! I can actually make decisions like that for my family and me! I know that's probably foreign to some. Many of us don't need to be told not to do stupid things. By the way, there are strip clubs which serve food... Do you need to be told not to bring your wife and kids there?

Gangsters with machine guns should be hired to enforce the ban. After all, the smokers are killing everyone else so, it makes good sense to get them first.
slipping into a police state

No one
It should be totally ignored.
You know what they say "If a frog had wings it could bump his head".
Should be no law
The smoking ban law is ridiculous. Any ban should be up to the individual owners to decide if they want smoking in their establishments or not. The state should not be involved in this in any way, shape or form.
I think we need a new
I think we need a new Democratic czar to oversee this matter too...
Anti-smoking czar...

My of my - how are we the land of the free?
Freedom
Your freedom ends when your smoke reaches my nose and clothing. Then my freedom to have fresh clean air is in jeapordy.
No...

It was long before J
It was long before J McCain.
But you can blame most of it on your friend Sen Waxman
Smoking BAN?
Let's see...... we have a smoking BAN, BUT, no one to enforce it!! SO is that really a BAN, or a suggestion? DUH!
Enforce the ban
Gangsters with machine guns should be hired to enforce the ban. After all, the smokers are killing everyone else so, it makes good sense to get them first.
