all of the above
Or not.

Thugs grow up to be parents. Guess how the kids will turn out. Just sayin...
The Question
This is one of the dumbest questions that I have ever seen in the Pilot.
We got this way because deadbeat parents expect the Police, Schools, Community Leaders, and Others to raise their children.
Things will not get better until parents first learn, and then perform their responsibilities toward their offspring.
I read through the whole article....
..I found that the most telling point was made in the last sentence: "Most say they need a gun for protection. As Ricks said, "It's more dangerous when you don't have one." In the beginning, so to speak, we were responsible for our own safety against the dangers in the world because we were alone. When we began to gather in groups we were safer from threats from outside but threats from the inside began to appear. There will always be the have's and the have not's; those who have less will always be trying to get what they think they are missing. Societies created banishment, police, and prisons to little long term effect. Kids and adults don't feel safe and no amount or police or prisons will alleviate the problem. Society has failed to protect their citizens and make them feel safe. Too many adults don't want to take responsibility for their own safety or their children's; its the police's job. If we begin to take responsibility for our own safety we will need less police and less prisons; our children will feel and be safer. Adult/parent responsibility is the key.
Parents MUST take responsibility for their children
I do not care if a parent is working 5 jobs, the 1st and most important job is raising and knowing what your child is doing AT ALL TIMES. A parent is a grand failure if they do not know what their child is doing. If a child has a gun, it is the parents fault, NO one else. The parent allowed this to happen by how they raised the child from birth. If a parent cannot control their child, they are the ones to look at for the problem.
To bad almost all of these parents who have lost control of their kids fail to accept this responsibility. The person who has to ultimately accept the responsibility for the failings that allowed the child to gain access to guns, be involved with a pregnancy, join gangs, or any of the other terrible things out there is the child. The failing parent is given a free ride. That practice must stop. Until the child is 18, any action the child does is the responsibility of the parent. Parents must be held accountable for the actions of their children; the parent is the one who enabled the behavior in the first place, either good or bad of their child. It is the parent.
Only the police should deal with an armed teen.
If I had lost control of my teens to the point they acquired guns, I certainly wouldn't try to disarm them.
How about the NRA and gun rights advocates?
If Eddie Eagle wasn't marketing guns to children and the NRA wasn't trying to sell one to every U.S. citizen there wouldn't be so many armed teenagers.
Responsibility & consequences
The children illegally acquiring guns needs to have punishment that has teeth and cannot be brokered into a plea deal. The child commits a crime with a gun mandatory sentence- no leeway.
Next we implement an immediate NRA Eddie Eagle course to teach gun safety. This is not a one year course and you are done. each student receives additional courses including a study of gun shot wounds at a local Emergency Room so that they can see teh devastation and pain that happens when guns are used incorrectly.
we have to be proactive rather than wishing our this will go away. Finally Hollywood and teh movie industry need to stop all these thug and gangster movies that glorify gun violence. We should limit Hollywood to one gangster movie a month which cannot have more than one shooting scene. Hollywood must also contribute money to teach gun safety after all these violent movies they keep producing. I call it the Hollywood violence tax.
taking responsibility
You want schools (i.e.teachers) to be responsible for kids and guns? Are you kidding? Schools aren't even allowed to know when the have a felon in their population - "it might hurt their self-esteem." Allow the teachers to train and carry weapons and then you can take up the issue of schools being responsible for kids carrying guns.
Not only is the poll on this
Not only is the poll on this topic unscientific, it's thoughtlessly phrased. How about another choice of, "All of the above?"
A NO BRAINER!
It should come to no surprise that there is an overabundance of pollers agreeing that this problem begins, continues and ends with parents! The only problem is one can't even begin to parent a teenager before parenting the child. It's unfortunate that many of our teens are being murdered by what seems to be the norm nowadays, unguided children with modern day parents who have better things to do than to lead and teach their children to walk in the word of Christ and trust in our God Almighty.
As parents, we all need to remember, "THE CURE TO CRIME BEGINS IN THE HIGH CHAIR, NOT THE ELECTRIC CHAIR". It begins when they open their eyes to the world and take their first breath of air.
My high praises and thanks to all those wonderfully attentive parents who provide a loving, responsible and grounded home life for their children. You contribute greatly to a more peaceful existence for all our children and grandchildren to come!
