My only question is......how come out of 1209 voters, 18 voted undecided? WHY would you even waste time voting if you obviously have no opinion?

I think a cell phone with text capability is more dangerous in a car than a radar detector.

Repeal of the Radar Detector Ban

For those of you that are against the repeal of this out dated law, do some research on the subject beofre you speakout against it. There is no proof the the use of a radar detector will cause an increase in the number wreck or deaths on the roads. If a driver is going to speed they will do it with or without a radar detector. Modern radar detectors have several safety features that can alert a driver to things such as road work, wreck or railroad crossing long before they get to it. They can also alert drivers to emergency vehicles and school buses. I use a radar detector that will alert me to my speed. I drive on I-64 and I-664 to and from work and I see drivers driving at high speed and weaving from lane to lane and they are not using radar detectors.
I would rather see the police going after the wreckless drive then going after the drive doing 5 mile per hour over the speed limit and might have a radar detedtor. Virginia didn't ban the use of CB radios in the 70's when the speed limit was lowered to 55MPH. So why ban radar detectors?

Our police need to be after those on cell phones or texting, but NO they make us buckle up, but they don't give a darn about people who drive and mis-use their phone.

It really makes no sense for everyone to buy radar detectors - why don't we just save everyone the money and take the radar guns away from the police - then we won't need the radar detectors. Sounds stupid right - well it is. What good are radar guns when the guy going 110 MPH knows there's one ahead and slows down before he gets to it.

We ALREADY have some of the Worst Drivers in the Nation. Why oh why would we repeal a law that at least keeps Drivers 'honest'. All it does is give a driver a false sense of security.

The Problem are the Idiot Drivers that FEEL its their Right and Obligation to MAKE ev1 drive the Speed Limit by blocking the Left Lane. Hell, take the Morons that CANT MAINTAIN SPEED over the High-Rise Bridge?

With the Greater Hampton Roads Area having a LARGE %'age of Drivers that FEEL 'their rights' supercede all others by purposely blocking the passsing lanes, all a Radar Detector will DO is totally frustrate those that DO have a radar detector because they cant REACH the speeds they feel they just HAVE to reach to justify the Cost of the Detector.

It WILL increase accidents and fatalities (if repealed).

Some of you would also like to do away with the cops that write tickets for speeding. You feel like you have the righ to endanger everyone else life so you can drive as you please. As long as I am driving the speed limit, I will drive in any lane I wish to, and it's none of your business. You should not expect me to assist you in breaking the law. If you have a red or blue light on top of your car, I will gladly move over for you.

Please read Virginia's DMV handbook. Slower traffic must move to the right. Did you know that failure to do so can result in a ticket? Are you aware that you can cause accidents by forcing other drivers to pass you on the right? Are you willing to take on that responsibility? Only police officers should be enforcing speed limits. Please stay out of the left lane and stop trying to enforce the laws yourself.

You are the type of person who causes problems on the highway because of your holier than thou attitude. You are endangering EVERYONE by not yielding to faster traffic and staying on your high horse. I'll bet that you would look both ways while crossing the street on a crosswalk, even if you had the right of way, right? What is different about staying out of the left lane? If you were hit by a car while crossing the street, who cares whose fault it was... You'd be "right", and you'd be hurt or dead. By not "assisting" others in breaking the law, you are endangering others and yourself. Once again, you are ABSOLUTELY right, but you are arrogant and dangerous just the same.
