What’s there for She’la White to like about her role in Wednesday’s nationally televised McDonald’s All-American Game at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center?

Plenty.

“It was still the greatest experience of my life,” the senior from Norfolk Collegiate said in a telephone interview just after midnight this morning.

“I had so much fun meeting a lot of wonderful people, learning about the media, being with my teammates, seeing the kids at the Ronald McDonald House …

“I know I didn’t have a great game, but my confidence is still sky high. I know what I can do.”

What the first local girl ever to play in the game was unable to do was get her East team in gear. As a point guard, that’s her No. 1 priority.

“I came in with about 12 minutes left in the first half and tried to get us going, but as a group, we just didn’t run the offense very well,” White said. “We got away from the gameplan early and couldn’t get back to it. I didn’t go one-on-one very much and maybe I should have because I only took four shots.”

While she was a little bummed about her inability to convert those shots, including a three-pointer, White was more disappointed in her playing time.

“I only played about five minutes in the second half, I was expecting more,” the North Carolina signee said. “But that was the coach’s decision. Not much more I can say.”
