N.C. military units honored with Pentagon environmental awards

Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and the Partnering Team at the Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station have received the 2007 Secretary of Defense Environmental Award, the Pentagon announced Friday.

The other winning installations and teams include: 

• Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, Calif.

• Redstone Arsenal, Alabama

• Naval Air Engineering Station, Lakehurst, N.J.

• Hill Air Force Base, Utah

• Robins Air Force Base, Georgia

• Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington

• Pennsylvania Army National Guard Natural Resources Conservation Team, Fort Indiantown Gap Training Center, Pa.

The awards recognize outstanding achievement in environmental management at both domestic and overseas bases.
