Friday's girls results: Kellam takes Beach softball lead after Salem is upset in 13 innings
SOFTBALL
First Colonial 3, Salem 2
The No. 8 Patriots Jailyn Jackson outdueled third-ranked Salem’s Kendra Knight in a 13-inning affair Friday.
Amber Arebalo’s run-scoring single won for First Colonial.
The loss dropped Salem (12-3, 11-3) into second place in the Beach District, one game behind Kellam with two left to play.
Kellam 7, Tallwood 5
The No. 4 Knights (13-4, 12-2) used a three-run rally in the seventh inning to overcome the No. 10 Lions and move into first place in the Beach District.
Kristina McLaughlin drove in two runs in the decisive rally.
Isle of Wight 11, Broadwater 0
Casey Mansfield powered the host Chargers (17-1) into today’s noon Metro Conference title game, tossing a one-hitter and thumping a three-run homer in the sixth inning.

Joanie Bilms scored the winner with four minutes remaining to vault the top-seeded Bulldogs into the Tidewater Conference tournament final. They will host No. 3 seed Bishop Sullivan Catholic at 2 p.m. today.
