The Pawtucket Red Sox scored nine runs in the first three innings, then cruised to a 9-6 victory Monday, completing a four-game home sweep and handing the Norfolk Tides their seventh straight loss.
Pawtucket (23-16) scored all of its runs against Tides starter Craig Anderson (1-3). In 2 1/3 innings, Anderson surrendered four home runs: a solo shot by Jeff Bailey in the first, followed in the second by a three-run homer from Jonathan Van Every and a two-run shot by Jed Lowrie, capped by a two-run homer by Bailey in the third. Eight runs were earned; his ERA ballooned to 10.13.
Trailing 9-2 after three innings, the Tides (13-24) cut their deficit to three by the seventh but could get no closer. Oscar Salazar and Scott Moore each hit solo home runs.
The Tides continue their 10-game road trip tonight against Lehigh Valley in Allentown, Pa. Norfolk's Jon Leicester (2-2, 6.03 ERA) is slated to face Les Walrond (0-2, 2.45) at 7:05.
